What’s the best of the trends showing for Fall 2015 .....
In case you missed it ….the hot colour of the season is Burgundy in both women & men markets. We are seeing it in shoes, sweaters, prints and pants……. it’s everywhere in retail.
My favourite use of burgundy is in the patent leather shoes .. of the manly variation.
So many cool brogues and oxfords to choose from. Classic and modern all at the same time.
Of course my ever loving husband was first to remark why I needed to buy Man Shoes when I could have very well borrowed his golf shoes !!!! .... No thanks honey :)) I prefer my Dutti's

The Modern 70’s trend is continuing for fall. Wider bottoms and wildly mixed ethnic and floral prints in light weight fabrications. Another component of this trend is the Suede… and we can see it in jackets, booties and skirts. Usually with some fringe detailing or with some sherpa trimming in shades of camels and tans.
Long maxi dresses and skirts and the maxi length cardigan, darker wash denims and chunky cable knit oversized sweaters.

Menswear inspired fabrics, long vests and deconstructed jackets. Both slouchy trousers and high waisted slim crops are featured. Great for the wear to work look.
However fashion is ever contradictory .. one minute the trend specialists are forecasting crops and at the same time pushing maxi lengths!!… How do we really decipher a trend?
The reality of Fashion is:
This fall we have the 70’s still going strong ,but the 80’s showing through in the drop crotch pants and bright colours, with some reference of the the mod 60’s era… and a sprinkle of 90’s grunge thrown in. ( Just to remind us of how old we really are !!)
The reality of Fashion is:
- it is one part vision ( how the designers showcase their collections )
- 2 parts translation ( how the industry translate the direction and bring it to the people)
- Lastly the evolution of a trend ( celebrity influence , current events and lifestyle greatly influence the success of a trend.)

Fashion is a great mish-mash of the past within a modern climate.
Colours are much the same too….. We bombard with you with a wide range of hues to entice you to buy that “hot New item” you likely already own, but in the newest colour of the season. In fact industry people are already looking forward to decide and select how pistachio and sorbet tangerine will work together for spring summer 2017…. ???
Often times we are so busy looking forward to the next hot new colour or next new trend we forget to live in the actual fashion reality of the NOW.
So, maybe I need to forget that cotton candy pink is coming and just enjoy the plush Burgundy of my new furry stole as it hugs against my neck to keep my neck warm this fall :)

"Style is individualistic and somewhat personal. So my style preference will likely not be yours. My aim is not to tell you what to buy but rather give you an insider view of what inspires me and maybe have you reflect on what style direction you would like to follow."
